“A Hummingbird Paradise”
Nestled in the hillside, overlooking the coffee town of Santa Maria de Dota, is a true gem. Quinta Galeon is a log cabin-style lodge with “bed & breakfast” type service. Meals are prepared by Tere from fresh ingredients, and can be tailored to individual needs. Her husband Pablo is very knowledgeable about local lore & attractions, and will gladly help plan your dream vacation. But the true attraction is the hummingbirds. We saw 15 different species in 2 days, most of which are only found in Costa Rica, without moving from the comfort of our deck chairs. There are literally hundreds of birds which come & go throughout the day. Many of the hummingbirds will sit on your finger to drink from the numerous feeders on the property. We also saw many other species of birds, including vultures, swallows, and jays. The lodge is off the beaten path, and has many fruit trees and trails to explore. A short drive to Santa Maria de Dota will bring you to many local shops, small restaurants, and the Coopedota Coffee Plant & Café. It is also convenient to the best location for viewing the Resplendent Quetzal. Tere & Pablo are wonderful hosts, and truly love sharing their lodge with visitors. If you are a bird-lover, or just want to relax, Quinta Galeon is the perfect tranquil location.
